Sydney Lima

Sydney Lima is a documentary filmmaker and writer. She writes regular think pieces for The Sunday Times Style exploring the intersection of mental health and social media.

Her viral Vogue article exposing sexual abuse on Instagram inspired her to develop and host the Spotify Original podcast Sex, Lies & DM Slides, co-hosted with Gizzi Erskine.

Sydney’s documentary work has seen her front viral films for both VICE and Channel 4; from uncovering the dark side of the art world to going undercover to expose a sex trafficking ring. She is currently in development for a new film with Channel 4.

In 2023, Sydney created The Monthly Digestif, a sell-out talk series at The London EDITION. This live debate on trending news and pop culture has featured guests including Jon Ronson, Jordan Stephens, and philosopher Slavoj Žižek.

In addition, Sydney leads In Conversation With, a bi-monthly series spotlighting leading TV and film writers, with past guests including Jamie Demetriou, Aisling Bea, Jack Rooke, Harris Dickinson, and the creators of HBO’s Industry.

In 2025, she founded Rich Parents, a production company and mentorship initiative designed to support underprivileged creatives in gaining access to the creative industries.
