Rick Edwards
Rick Edwards is a broadcaster, journalist and author, best known as co-host of BBC Radio 5Live’s Breakfast show and the network's hit sports panel show Fighting Talk. This Summer, Rick and the comedian Lloyd Griffith fronted the Football Daily during the World Cup in the US, and off the success of that are launching a new, twice-weekly, fully-visualised football podcast on BBC Sounds.
2027 will bring Rick's latest hosting project, Reality Retreat, for Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video. In this series Rick guides an ensemble cast of reality TV icons through a tropical wellness retreat built around truth-telling, confrontation and transformation. It gets lively.
Recent TV credits include NBC and Peacock's period dating format The Courtship, Sky History's cult hit series River Hunters and The Great British Castle Rescue, live boxing coverage on BBC2 and Channel 4's Fatberg Autopsy. Rick hosted BBC One's smash daytime quiz !mpossible for eight series, and two Saturday night celebrity series, between 2016 and 2021.
He began his career on the standup circuit after graduating in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, before breaking through on E4 Music and then Channel 4's T4, which he presented for four years.
Rick went on to front a huge range of programming for Channel 4, including Tool Academy, the iconic Made In Chelsea end of season shows, and much of the broadcaster's coverage of the 2012 London Paralympics.
He co-presented BBC Three's live political discussion show Free Speech, and off the back of a successful TEDx talk about youth voting, he wrote his first book, None of the Above, exploring the basics of the UK political process.
Rick is the co-host of the award-winning popular science podcast Science(ish) and its follow-up Eureka!, both with quantum physicist Dr Michael Brooks, who he also wrote two books with, Science(ish): The Peculiar Science Behind The Movies and Hollywood Wants To Kill You.
Since November 2021 Rick has co-hosted BBC Radio’s 5Live Breakfast show alongside Rachel Burden, and has covered major sporting events including Wimbledon, The Hundred on BBC2, two World Cups and the 2024 Euros. Rick also hosted the F1 podcast The Inside Track alongside the sports journalist Matt Majendie, and the Premier League Review on BBC Sounds.
